The idea is not to ban junk food in all, it is to provide more healthier options than unhealthy options, so it makes it harder for the student to choose the junk food and reduces the accessibility . Schools want to make the heather options outweigh the junk food, so it becomes to the student to learn and decide which of the options is healthier for them. Instead of making the decision between a candy bar and chips, it would be be between dried fruit and baked chips. Wether it is at home, school, or at a friend’s home, students will eat whatever is provided and available to them, healthy or not . If students are not presented and or not having easier accessibility to healthy choices, they will develop the habit of eating junk food.… Rhetors arguing that schools should not implement healthy foods because children will be at “Social risk” are missing the major problem. If children were exposed to healthy foods every day in school, healthy foods would no longer be out of the ordinary. The only reason children see unhealthy foods as the superior choice is because it’s all they see. It is what is on TV, it is what their parents feed them, and it is what their schools provides them. If these strong exposures to junk foods began disappearing, and were replaced with healthy foods, there would not be a problem.… Along with the lack of nutrition, many students refuse to eat their lunch and end up wasting millions of dollars by simply throwing it in the trash. In some cases, schools donate the lost food and turn them into feed for farms. Also, as a result of the release of the act, many students have refused to pay for their lunch and either do not eat, or they simply bring in their own meals. This is a good thing to do, though, as the meals provided are not nutritious by themselves. When students decide to bring their lunches to school, they can make sure to get both enjoyable and nutritious food items.… But while all of this is happening some schools are trying to fix this problem. People conduct research on the effect fast food has on kids and how unhealthy it is, yet these people often fail to recognize that the other choices schools have are no better or even worse. Advocates for healthier school lunches target fast food because of its established stigma yet they ignore the facade put on by other food distributors. When schools finally do offer a healthy lunch no one will eat it because a child will decide what good food is purely by taste. A child who knows there are better tasting options will not voluntarily choose to eat healthily. At the very least, students enjoy the taste of fast food while other lunch options are ignored and wasted.… Finally, soda machines should not be permitted at school because the school will be wasting their money! The school will be wasting their money because they will have to spend money to refill the soda machines! Students will also be wasting their money and their recess, just to get as many sodas as they can carry. Parents will waste their money too because kids will say, “Mom can I have a Dollar for a pencil,” when it’s actually for soda! It’s just plain ridiculous to put soda machines in school.… However, schools should be more concerned about students’ health, than about how much profit that they can make from children by cutting off healthy food, and provide fast, easy making junk food. Hon. Marlene Canter, the board of education L.A. Unified school district, saying that some of the companies are really opposing the ban of selling soda and other fast food in schools. For reasons of that they would lose revenue. She also said “It’s not about money, It’s not about economics.… Eating junk food does not just affect children’s health; it also affects their study. Some people claim that banning junk food from school will not help because children still have access to junk food from outside. This may be true but when we are banning junk food from school does not mean that junk foods are not allow to eat at school, but also we are also educating them about junk food being unhealthy and bad for their overall health.… There often not of people to help count and prepare the breakfast and that many of the students do not even want to take what is given to them because they do not like but often is force to take at least three things.
